"Baby Reindeer" is about a comedian named Richard Gadd who is struggling in a warped relationship with his female stalker, ultimately forced to face a deeply buried trauma. Donny has to confront a painful memory from his past. So, this show is totally based on a true story of the writer and performer Richard Gadd. And he wrote the series and also stars as Donny.
Struggling comedian Donny, who shows an act of kindness to a stranger, who then becomes a nightmare stalker. But complicating the matter is that Donny invites a lot of this in, or at least enables a bunch of the dysfunction to happen before anybody gets their shorts in a bunch.
Dark comedy, horror, and drama you will find in this show. Each episode shows Donny getting deeper into trouble and then trying to get out.
Richard Gadd's acting is great, especially in a heartbreaking scene at the end. Jessica Gunning, who plays the stalker Martha, and Nava Mau, who plays Donny's friend Teri, are also fantastic.
This show might be difficult to watch if you've had before stalkers or been hurt. But it's really interesting because it's so honest and the actors are really good. It's not for everyone because it has sex, nudity, lots of swearing, and violence, including sexual assault.
